Outside the Triangle, Into the Zone
An organized, well-designed space plan can save time, steps, and frustration in the kitchen. It used to be that the refrigerator, stove and sink formed the kitchen “work triangle”. Today’s kitchen must accommodate numerous functions and often, multiple cooks. More efficient kitchen spaces require that various work zones within a single kitchen replace the work triangle. Baking pans, spices, flour, sugar, shortening, etc. are all stored within the Baking Zone, which may include a lower-height, stone counter top for rolling out dough. The Prep Zone often contains chopping and peeling tools, refrigeration, a small sink with a sprayer for cleaning fruits and veggies, and a garbage disposal. The Cleanup Zone would include a large sink, dishwasher, and cleaning supplies. Now you’re in the Zone!
